Education: |
A bachelor's degree in a business field is required for entrance into this occupation. Employers are increasingly hiring those with a master's degree, especially those with a master's degree in business administration, economics, finance, or risk management. Some employers consider previous experience in the financial field equally as important. Continuing education is extremely important for those entering this field, and some employers offer its employees opportunities to take various graduate courses at local universities. Financial managers need to be creative thinkers and good problem solvers.

Financial Managers normally work in an office atmosphere. They commonly work long hours, often 50 to 60 hours each week. They are often required to attend meetings and travel to visit subsidiary companies or meet customers.

Outlook: |
Employment growth for financial managers is expected is to be about as fast as the average for all occupations. However, applicants will likely face strong competition for jobs. Those with a masters’ degree and a certification will have the best opportunities.
